To get midi output on EZK, check the synth properties and see if you have 'Enable Midi Output' checked. Lower part of the window on the left.

To get a midi file: In Sonar, record your midi performance. Drag that clip to the browser and there you go. An exported midi file of your progressions.

    Hi,
I have EZKeys electric keys but usually end up using a traditional piano tone on the Chord progressions I work up in EZKeys. I use EZKeys in free standing mode and export a MIDI file which I then open in SONAR and run through TruePiano.

Yesterday I tried to streamline the process by running EZkeys as a VSTi within SONAR. It works ok but I could not figure out how to get EZKeys to output MIDI so I could lets a instance of TruePiano play the MIDI through its sound engine. I also have not figured out how to save or export the chord progressions as MIDI so my goal of creating portable tracks is hampered by my inability.

I am using a Win 7 x64 laptop with onboard soundcard, so I do not have any specific MIDI hardware such as the MOTU express I use with my real DAW.

I am trying to avoid buying another EZkeys instrument just to comp progressions. The sound of the electric keys is not a good match for my el-cheapo laptop speakers, so I prefer to use a traditional piano tone which translates through the speakers fairly well.

Is it possible to use EZKeys within SONAR the way I am attempting to use it? How can I do so?

On plug-ins that support the feature, "Enable MIDI Output" may be set in the "Insert Soft Synth Options" dialog, the VST2/3 Drop Down in the plug-in standard header or synth rack synth settings menu.

Once enabled, the plug-in will appear as an input on all instrument and MIDI tracks except for the tracks having the plug-in set as the output.

TT EZ Player might of help.  I only just acquired EZK so I don't know for sure, but I have used EZPlayer to drive other drum VSTi (AD) with EZD2.

Maybe some of the other EZK users have tried this with EZ Player.  It's certainly something I'll be exploring

Mr Happy, I will have to let someone else try to help you.

I only have EZD on my Surface, so I can't see how to point you in the right direction.

But with EZD the options for midi out (vst2 drop down menu in plugin) on my setup is checked and not greyed out like yours is. However, my midi in is greyed out like yours.

The place where I was telling you to look is in Views/Synth Rack. At the top of the Synth Rack there are four Icons starting on the left. The fourth one should be "Insert SoftSynth Properties." This is where I was trying to get you to go to look for "Enable Midi Out." But I found out on my EZD that option is not there. So maybe for EZK it's aslo not there like I thought it was. Sorry.

[Edit] As I was posting this (and doing other things, at work right now: ) I see that Steve got you going. Great! Glad you got it sorted out.

Couldn't you just click and drag the Midi data from EZ Keys to the other keyboard Midi track?

    Peace!
