What bundled Sonar products could we use in a different DAW?

Over the years Sonar/CW have bundled many products with their DAW such as Addictive Drums, True Piano, and Melodyne.
As I've purchased other AD libraries I'm confident this will work. And upgraded the bundled Melodyne Essential to Editor through Celemony, I'm good there.

But can VSTs like Rapture Pro, Dim Pro, Z3TA+2 be used as plugins in another DAW, or as standalone products? Especially if we paid extra for them!

Understandably the Pro Channel modules will stay with Splat. But some other ones, like the CA2A, the 2 L-Phase products, Gibson Bass Collection, Guitar Rig etc., what will their status be when Sonar truly runs it's course and disappears forever (a few years from now I imagine).

So I'm asking which ones will we be able to use in a different DAW?

All the best to the employees of Cakewalk for their fine product they have developed over the years.

A truly sad day for me...
Michael

Melodyne comes w/ Studio One.

Though I dont use them much I am hoping the Addictive Drums (I bought extra kits and stuff) will work in another DAW somehow.

How about the new plugins in Sonar? Can we move those elsewhere?

Im just wondering.

*edit* Apparently all of them load in Studio One. All of my stuff did including the Cakewalk plugins. I guess VST's are VST's

Making the Adaptive Limiter available for use in other daws for Splat owners is the least they can do, if they've any decency left...

I just opened adaptive limiter, and the LPEQ etc...in Studio One. So if we can download it...

Are you sure about the adaptive limiter? If I open it in Studio One I get this message: The Adaptive Limiter is only available to be used in Sonar version 23.5.0 or higher.

Call me crazy but I have no plans on switching DAWs right now.
I will use Sonar till either:
A- The doors fall off of it
B- Technology has changed so much that I will be better off using something else.

Windows 8.1 X64 Sonar Platinum x64
Custom built: Asrock z97 1150 - Intel I7 4790k - 16GB corsair DDR3 1600 - PNY SSD 220GB
Focusrite Saffire 18I8 - Mackie Control

Hello Chuck,
good point, there is no hurry to get another DAW .
The last time I had to switch Sequencer Logic 5.5 works 4 more years
from 2003 til 2007 very smooth.
I think cause of the monthly updates that Splat is on the
latest state possible .
Don´t like to change the DAW again.

Good luck

That is the beauty of a Windows OS.   People still mess with Project 5.  I can still use VSampler, Acid Pro, all Sony software.

Basically, from my experience, anything that is VST should port over and can be used within other DAW's.  There are exceptions to the rule, however.  For example, some VST's are coded to work only in Sonar.  If I recall correctly, the Nomad Factory FX and the TruePiano instrument both DO NOT work in other DAW's.  Furthermore, the tried-and-true Sonitus plugins DO NOT work as well since they are DirectX and not VST's (Steinberg).

Also, VST3 support is not in Ableton Live (9), so any VST3-only plugs will not work there.  Version 10 is coming out soon, but it is not known if VST3 will be available.  Not sure if all other DAW's have VST3 support.  They most likely do, I would imagine.  It's new (and useless) technology.

Older plugs like si drum, strings and piano work. Pro channel modules purchaswd separately like CA2A work. Older dx ones work with the few DAWs that still support DX like reaper. Rapture works. Not sure about rapture session. Z3ta also works

Hey that's cool!  +1 for Reaper!

I suppose there are a lot more incompatibilities out there that I know.  Trying to solve it in writing is fruitless.  To the OP, just experiment by creating a folder of shortcuts to all of the plugin folders that Cakewalk references and see what works in demos of other DAW's.  Probably out of all the DAW's available, Ableton may be the most limiting, as of the current version 9.7.x.  Still no VST3 support, no DX support, but everything else is rock (and I mean ROCK) solid.

There is a DX to VST wrapper that works.  I have it installed but I'm not sure I've used it for a long time.
