Midi keyboard set up

I have not used my midi keyboard in a long time...an M-audio Oxygen 8, and not since upgrading to Sonar Professional. So I need a refresher to get it working right. It's recognized on the Preferences / Midi section, so I am checking all the boxes. But when I add a synth track to my project, I don't get any response from it at all. I am probably goofing up  the I / O settings and routing, or it's just some checkbox I am missing along the way. Thanks

Once your keyboard is checked as an input device in preferences you can then select it as the input device for the midi track your going to record, use Omni.  Click on where I circled, there's 2 places, then select your keyboard.  The track will also need the input echo to be highlighted
