Alternative to channel tools?

Does anyone know of a third party plugin still under development similar to the very handy Channel tools in Sonar?

Bruce.

Depends on the DAW, but for the most part, it is.

It is - but since I am changing projects over to a new DAW I want to make sure all of the plugins are still current too.

I really like this one, but the GUI is a little processor heavy. I always end up having to freeze it.

MUtility is part of the free Melda Production bundle. I believe the license for the bundle is still on sale.
The PC module Panipulator by Boz Digital is a free VST too.

How do you know any third-party substitute will work in your new DAW?

Of course, it probably will. But how do you know that? Well, you're able to make such an assumption because the plugin conforms to the VST specification. So does Channel Tools, so it's every bit as likely to work in your new DAW as any other stereo-imaging plugin you find.

I read the question differently. It has nothing to do with whether Channel Tools will work in another DAW or not.

Channel Tools is great, but I'm one of the few who get bit by the loud "POP" issues reported on these here forums. It still hasn't been fixed, and now it never will. I can use two or three instances in a project. Beyond that, it blows up.

Wow - I didn't realise that Dan. I have only ever used one or two instances per project I guess. Good to know.

    Gosh, you're right!

I just assumed the OP was looking for a replacement because he was moving to a different DAW, because, well, Channel Tools is the best plugin of that type I've ever seen.

But maybe it's got a bug I don't know about. I haven't experienced any issues with it, and I routinely use a dozen or so instances in every project. It basically goes on every stereo track.

Strange, but Channel Tools is the ONLY reliable bug that I have in Sonar.  It always acts strange, gives me the super loud POP and is generally unusable for me.  Everything else, rock solid.  If that is all I have to deal with, I count myself lucky...
