Sonar X3 Rewired issues and proper configuration

Greetings everybody. I apologize in advance for my long post.

I have been using various versions of Sonar since Sonar 2XL but I have never used them properly.

At the moment my set up is the following:
  • KORG PA600 (as my main MIDI controller via USB). I do have a KORG nanoKONTROL2 that I have never properly configured in SONAR; so at the moment it is not plugged in.
  • Focusrite Scarlett 18i6
  • Sonar X3 Pro (with Addictive drums and keys)
  • Reason 7

The way I have SONAR set up:
  • 2 XLN instrument tracks
  • 1 Rewire instrument track
  • 16 MIDI tracks (SONAR), of which 14 MIDI OUTS go to Reason and 2 go to the XLN synths

KORG PA600 set up:
A sequencer song with 16 MIDI tracks all “feeding” the 16 MIDI track inputs in SONAR accordingly.

Reason set up:
14 instruments receiving MIDI data from SONAR (no recording in REASON)

What I want to do:
With SONAR as the host, I want to record 16 MIDI tracks (in SONAR), using my KORG keyboard, to be played back by Addictive Drums and Addictive Keys for the drums and piano tracks and Reason instruments for everything else. To make things a little more interesting, I need to record 4 different projects and they are all video scores.

My issue:
I do not know how to configure this properly.
I have recorded a 12 track composition for one of the videos and even though all work fine, it is very complicated to get anything done.

Issue1:
in order to play/record i.e. a horn measure I have to do the following:
Select track 8 on my KORG keyboard
Select track 8 on SONAR
Select track 8 on REASON
If let’s say track 7 is selected in REASON then when I hit a note on my keyboard both Horns and Flutes (track 7) are being played back simultaneously.
Generally all the tracks have to be selected individually in order to work properly. I understand the software does what I ask it to do and I have to be precise on my commands but is there anyway (setting, configuration) that I can do, may be using a controller so that all tracks in all applications are selected simultaneously with one click or one button?

Issue 2:
I cannot get the MIDI piano roll window to stay on the “diatonic” setting, where the piano keys are shown at the left of the panel instead of the MIDI note numbers. Every time I close the window and then re-open it later for edits, it goes back to the numbers. This is independent of the MIDI track I am selecting, it happens to all tracks all the time.
In MIDI device settings in SONAR a KORG PA600 instrument definition is selected, I wonder if that has anything to do with it.

Issue 3:
When I am trying to punch in or overwrite a part and I hit record, no instruments from REASON are being played back. I can hear the metronome and the XLN synths but no REASON instruments. So far my workaround is to hit play (everything plays back as it should) and then hit record right after and all is fine. If I just hit record, it does not work properly.

Thank you all in advance and I hope the SONAR legacy will live on somehow for years to come.
