Since the collapse of Cakewalk I have been really enjoying Sonar. Is that psychological?

My experience of Sonar has risen now I'm making atleast two songs a day

I believe that these forums haven't been this popular (or busy) for a long time.
It's possible that many members have been enjoying the social, collective, and emotional aspect of things recently, plus they might not have appreciated just how popular Sonar was.
That, in turn, might empower one to explore Sonar some more.
 
A few people have also been trying other DAWs recently, only again to further appreciate just how complete Sonar is.
It would be interesting to get the opinions of hobbyists (like me), and pros who use Sonar for a living.

Well what I can say is that I've been demoing a number of other DAWs during this time - S1, Reaper, Mixbus, Live, now Samplitude... figuring out how things work and kind of trying to imagine working in them... and then I pop open Sonar and go Aaaaah, right, *this* is how I actually want to work. Which is kind of a complicated feeling to have under the circumstances.

I notice that the forum would list a lot of complaints - probably normal for forums.  Now that the software is in serious jeopardy, the forum is filled with praise.  I think the praise was always there, it is just that people tend to write when they have an issue to resolve.
 
And then facing the possible demise of the software (a miracle can still happen), in the attempt of using other software, it is amazing how much is loved about Sonar.
 
So now that so many are writing about how amazing it is, maybe some philanthropist entrepreneur will pick up it, hire some of the techs that really know the software engineering, and it will continue.  (May as well ask for this!)

I have been using Cakewalk since 1992 maybe 1993 and tried Voyetra DOP as well as MixCraft but I find Sonar to be complete as a lot of you have said.  I know a few people who use ProTools and they are not happy with it any longer and they are looking into Cakewalk.  I read a lot of reviews on ProTools and not many of the users had anything good to say.  Some people that like ProTools have told me it is the industry standard but if you read the reviews I ask myself how can that be?  I didn't know that Cakewalk is in jeopardy until I read this.  I usually stop in when I have an issue with Sonar to get help and I have to tell you, that's a good thing!  That means the software is stable for me. The majority of the time I stumble is because of user error and I am not ashamed to admit it.  So, is there any articles anyone can point me to about the software being in jeopardy?  I remember back in 1993 when I went to Sam Ash to look at software, they always recommended Cakewalk and said it was the industry standard.  Maybe if we could find out which industry pros use Sonar, they can promote it for Cakewalk?

I agree.  The more I test out other DAW trial versions, the more I appreciate Sonar.
Which is weird for me, because I'm always looking for cool, new user interfaces to play with.
But  I'm finding that (with very few exceptions)  Sonar has the coolest user interface, and the best workflow setup out of all of the one's I've tried. 

I've just about run out of trial versions to check out.  (It's all I've been doing for the past few days), and there is nothing that really grabbed me. MOTU's Digital Performer DOES have a cool user interface, but the font size is so tiny, I gave up on it.  It started hurting my eyes.

It's so nice to go back and open up Sonar Platinum and start working on a song.
It feels like coming home.

The search for alternatives has brought it home to me just how advanced and complete Sonar is.
A sobering realization.

Same here.  Went back to Studio One which I've had for a while and this morning working with the Cubase 9.5 demo.
God, it's heartbreaking how good Sonar is by comparison.

I really, really hope someone takes it on, even if it's just as a small cottage setup with a couple of programmers and one of their Mums doing the books at night on the kitchen table.
