Adaptive Limiter and where I can see the other Plugins
Hi, Is anyone having an issue in finding Adaptive Limiter in Sonar Platinum? I have Version 23.10.0 Build 14 [2017.10] - x64 with unlimited updates. My OS is Windows 10 64 bit. I sent a ticket to support and I followed these steps: "Open you C Drive to Program Files | Common Files | VST3 | Adaptive Limiter Inside this folder should be the Adaptive Limiter vst3 file. If you see it there then we now know it is installed." I checked and see it. "Open SONAR and go to Edit | Preferences. Click on the VST Settings tab on the left and make sure you have the C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3 set in your paths to find VST3 files. If this is not currently set then please add the location. You'll need to rescan your plug-ins afterward." I did this and see that I do have this set in the VS3 files. "Now go to the Browser in SONAR and click on the Plug-ins Tab and select Audio FX, then open the dynamics folder. Here you'll find the Adaptive Limiter. You can now drag it on to a audio track or bus and use it for mastering or mixing." When I create a new project and click on Audio FX, Adaptive Limiter is not listed. Also, when Sonar starts to load, a pop up window shows up and indicates I have 87 plugins. Does anyone know where I can see the 87 plugins? I wanted to use Adaptive Limiter but I can't access it. I submitted a second ticket to Support on 11/22/17 but I have not had a response on this one or a response on my follow-up to the previous ticket that was still open. I know I am not the only Cakewalk client, all I want to know is how to locate and use Adaptive Limiter and where can I see the 87 plugins. I ran Command Center and also reinstalled Engineering FX Suite thinking it might add it in Audio FX but that did not work. Does someone know how I can get Adaptive Limiter added as well as where I can see the 87 plugins? Thanks so much!

Hi. In preferences (P), File, Vst Settings. Do a scan. If that doesn't work, do a reset and re-scan. Make sure you have the correct locations checked. All the best.

Hi Zargg, thanks! I did the reset, and it found an issue with Addictive Drums 2, something about a wrong computer id. However, after the scan, it found 91 plugins. I still don't see Adaptive Limiter in Audio FX. Something tells me it's in there I just need to point Cakewalk to it. Any thoughts as to why I can't see it? Thanks so much!

Hi Stratman70, Thanks! I checked it and see it is in the vs3. It is mind boggling that I don't see it in Audio FX.

It is a Vst3, so it is located (by default) in C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3. Not sure if SONAR scans there without being told. All the best.

Thanks, I checked the path and see the file C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3 Does anyone know how to get Sonar to scan there? I tried looking but don't see any way to point it to that folder. Then again after reading the posts on Gibson's decision, now I know why Support hasn't replied to me. Thanks for your help Zargg! I will play with it and see what I can figure out.

Open Preferences (P), File, Vst Setting, and add that folder there. Hope it helps.

The VST3 path is added to the scan paths by default. If you verify the settings by going into Preferences > File > VST Settings. May also want to verify that one the "Sort by" plug-in layout options is selected. These show all plug-ins.

Hey Scook, Been reading thru most threads lately. Curious, in the settings described is VST3 migration. I guess both boxes are checked by default. Should they be? I know, it's a personal preference. So what is yours? I do have rapture pro, etc, quite a few vst3 plugs Thanks

Hi Scook, Thanks. I checked and I have two in VST Scan paths. C:\program files\cakewalk\vstplugins C:\program files\common files\vst3 I don't see where I can sort plug in layout options in settings. When I bring up a session to record, I click on Plugins Manage layouts, is that where? Sort by category, manufacturer or type. Platinum Effects is checked. Also you mentioned in this thread, "settings described is VST3 migration. I guess both boxes are checked by default. Should they be? I know, it's a personal preference. So what is yours?" You said both are off. Can you also walk me through how to get there? Once I get Adaptive Limited set, I want to start working with it. Thanks to everyone for your help!

I provided a link to the plug-in sort options in my post. There is a similar plug-in layout section everywhere a plug-in menu exists. VST3 options are on the same Preference page as the scan path settings, same help page as the link posted above. Unless you have a reason to change from the default, leave them alone.

Only the three "Sort by" layouts show all plug-ins. Custom layouts require the user to manage what is displayed in the menu.
