Does This Sound Reasonable????

Okay so after submitting a request to Cakewalk to get refunded for the annual monthly update fee of almost $200 that I paid them 3 weeks before their fatal announcement I finally got a response. They said I needed to "destroy the software". So if I understand them correctly, even though I paid for the software for almost 20 years I now have to destroy it in order to get a refund for an amount that I paid to get monthly updates even when they're no longer offering monthly updates. Gibson s*cks. I have moved to Studio One. I will destroy it.

Why you think you have to destroy ALL of the Cakewalk software you have purchased over the last 20 year is completely beyond me. Have you got X1, X2, or X3? You can use any of those forever. You have all of the information/files necessary to reauthorize/reinstall at will.

So just tell them you destroyed it and keep using it. They will never know. They have ripped you off for sure, so you're just taking something back from them in return.

If three weeks encompasses when the last update happened, I think they're just saying that if you get a refund for what you bought, you can't use what you bought (i.e., the last update). It was mostly just the loops anyway.

Incorrect. They said you have to destroy the software. You added the 'now' part.

They want you to destroy the software? Fine, you'll be more than happy to do that. Just as soon as you get around to it. And if they're not happy with your schedule, well they can go pound sand.

That you received a refund is very decent and indicative that it is not a bankrupcy, and merely  tornaqueting  a severed financial artery.

Destroying the software sounds like Cakewalks old refund policy (Pre Platinum days).
Once we went to rolling updates, that cant really be applied anymore unless you had not finished paying for Platinum.
