Opcode all over again
Back in the 80's and 90's, the leading Mac DAW was Opcode Vision. Gibson bought the popular software company only to close it almost immediately. I never understood why you'd buy a company just to shut it down. Since I'd become accustomed to Windows at work and because Macs were so much more expensive, I switched to PC and bought a Cakewalk sequencer, then Sonar. I purchased updates all along the way. Then I read that Gibson had purchased Cakewalk and I began to worry. After a few months went by, I felt more confident that Gibson would stand by Cakewalk, an obviously popular DAW. Which led me to purchase last year the lifetime updates for Sonar Platinum for $299. And then Gibson closes Cakewalk. I guess the lifetime updates meant Cakewalk's lifetime, not mine. Needless to say I'm disgusted with the Gibson company.
