Image from old computer

Hi

If I have got a windows 10 image of my now defunct computer and load it up to a new computer. will that change the bios and cmos settings, or does it just load up the software only.
I was thinking the worst scenario here .
Otherwise load all from fresh.
What is best advice here as I do not want to upset my new computer when it arrives all nicely built.
All the best
John

Loading a previous backup image file onto a new machine will not affect BIOS settings.
However, it does leave the OS a bit of a mess.
IMO, It's worth the effort to perform a clean OS install... and then install your DAW applications/plugins.
At that point, create an up-to-date backup image file.
Best to start on a clean rock-solid foundation...

    I wouldn't do it even in a worst-case scenario.

Like Jim said, it would create an awful mess -- but also I'd be very surprised if any software activation didn't recognize it was on a different system and revert to Demo mode.
