System memory is gradually gobbled up by Sonar Platinum.
I'm running window 7 64 bit and have an I7 with 8 gigs of RAM. When I load a modest project into sonar the RAM reads around 3.9 gigs. As I use sonar the RAM usage slowly increases. After 15 min. of use the RAM meter indicates 6-7 gigs of RAM being used. Eventually things become sluggish and Sonar eventually crashes. This only happens when I run Sonar. Otherwise my RAM usage remains pretty steady at around 2.5 gig. I don't have a lot of programs loaded and the ones I do have I hardly use. Everything has been freshly loaded because I replaced my hard drives recently due to a pending hard drive failure warning. I have adjusted my virtual memory paging file size to min = 8183 and max =12274. Running ASIO and have tried various buffer sizes to no avail. I Need some help on this. Thanks ~Dean

I don't know Sonar to have a memory leak.
My suspicion wild be a plugin, instrument or control surface dll that's leaking.

I don't know Sonar to have a memory leak.
My suspicion wild be a plugin, instrument or control surface dll that's leaking.
Don't have my control surface plugged in. I do have a a few VST instrument but have converted them to audio and archived the synth.

When you say you have changed the page file size have you decreased or increased it?
Decreasing it will have a detrimental effect as windows will not be able to move pages out of RAM and therefore the situation will get worse.

When you say you have changed the page file size have you decreased or increased it?
Decreasing it will have a detrimental effect as windows will not be able to move pages out of RAM and therefore the situation will get worse.
to add to this, it's best to set the min/max values the same, to fix the size, then windows won't/can't suddenly decide to resize it during a delicate operation

I increased the virtual RAM.

Have you tried turning off "Plug in load balancing" ?

I don't know what "Plug in load balancing" is. Where do I find it? Oh I see it under Audio/Playback and recording. Seems the "Use multiprocessing Engine" box is checked, but the "plug-in Load Balancing" is not checked. So to answer your question that would be no I do not have it checked. Should I?

I read a little info about the "Plug in load balancing" feature. Seems to apply mostly to the cpu load. Since it was not checked I decided to give it a try anyway and checked it. It did level out the CPU spikes, but the RAM usage still goes up steadily.
Yes. I already tried just loading a new program (basic) with no material or plugins whatsoever, and unfortunately the RAM usage still climbs slowly but surely with no material or plugins used.
This problem has me by the tail and I've done everything I know.

I too have Win7-64, 8 gigs RAM, and SPLAT. I've had projects 5 min long and 70 tracks running, and maybe I've witness some RAM being slowly gobbled. Maybe not. HOWEVER!!! I periodically save and rename (v01, v02, v03, etc.), and exit from Sonar, then reload. I've always done that routine, not only with Sonar, but also with Word, Excel and other programs. Why? Because everything eventually takes a crap, and when it crashes, can take out weeks or even months worth of grueling work. I've never had Sonar do this, but I have had Word take out an important document that almost caused me to get canned from my old day job.
