CAKEWALK HOME STUDIO 2002 - HEY..WHY NOT ??
WHY?
Well, Following Recent Tragic Events in the CW Fold...
1. To test the resilience of the program given a multitude of OS changes over the years....... and surprise surprise (WELL NOT REALLY) it works fine with yesterday's unsolicited & substantial Windows 10 Update.
2. To remind myself how easy it was for performer such as I, who still uses midi and a Roland SD5 Sound Module for live gigs,to double click in windows explorer and the midi file in all it's multi track glory would simply open and play through CW Sonar and outputting to the sound module effortlessly. This was essential for tweaking and altering midi tracks to get best musical results live. PS: Use Van Basco (Light weight / never fail program for Live Gig Midi & lyric playback.)
SO,
With regard to MIDI Editing, I am having so much trouble sourcing a replacement DAW that even comes close to the SONAR level of simplicity , intuitiveness, comprehensiveness & accuracy of the CW product.
And who started the vicious rumor that MIDI is old fashioned ?.....................'definitely FAKE NEWS .
Instrument Tracks ?............No........I prefer MIDI Tracks
I am torn between sticking with CW SPLAT for my MIDI work and learning another DAW for STUDIO Mixing OR
Moving entirely to a new DAW.
Maybe I have to multi task..............Use 2 DAWS .....................one for MIDI.............one for Audio Mixing.
Sounds Messy !!! ..........and I'm male....multitasking can't happen (apparently ;).
I have tried most of the DAWS on offer and they all have so much to offer ..Every which way but loose.....but they seem to provide their MIDI tools under sufferance ......except of course for one powerful player who I wont single out ( BUT.. for the purposes of this exercise.. Let's Just call him 'HERR ICE CUBE'.
He has a magnificent program which has supported MIDI development for untold years and should be applauded for his work and intricate software developments.
His program should not be ignored .......esp by those of us who dabble VERY & EXTREMELY
deeply into MIDI BITS and BYTES.
Such Midi enthusiasts took us to where we are today and I salute such pioneers.
Notwithstanding ....Any Alternative suggestions for 'Easy MIDI' editing via a double click from windows explorer would be most appreciated.
Cheers...........Frank in OZ
