Thanks to the Employees and Associates!

I have spent so much time facing my own problems that I basically forgot about the great people that have supported me for the last 30 years while I have used Cakewalk products. 30 years is a long run, and there have been a lot of ups and downs. I have recorded a huge amount using this system. It changed my life, allowing me to develop as a musician.

I of course do not personally know any of the crew, but I can say I feel very bad that they have lost or will be loosing their jobs. They face something in another dimension than having to learn a new DAW. I really hope opportunities come that will blossom their careers.

Thank you to the employees and associates of Cakewalk.

Cakewalk user since DOS3. Currently Platinum on a ASUS Z97 Sabertooth Mark 1 USB 3.1, i4790 3.6, 16 gigs memory, Windows 10 64, RME UCX using firewire.

Yes! Three cheers for the Bakers past and (recently)  present. As Greg said, this software has been life-changing for me. Though I remain a lowly 'hobbyist', it took me to creative places I did not know existed in me.

I was raised in all things DAW by Twelve Tone, then Cakewalk.  Only had one hair puller in 25 years.  In business systems, I have one a day, it seems.   That's pretty stellar results all points considered.. Thanks bakers and forum folks..

For those who remember Greg H's earliest Twelve Tone product line, it is astounding how far the Cakewalk team took this concept.  Well done!  Sadly, we must move on, but...WHAT TIMES we had.  :)

If we'd all recorded platinum records with SONAR and did interviews extolling its virtues and how great it was, SONAR would probably still be alive. But we can only do the best with what we have, and likewise, the Bakers did the best they could with what they had.

Nobody, not even some of their competitors, wanted to see Cakewalk fail. Someone from another company who called me to find out if the rumor was true was genuinely distraught when it was confirmed, even though his company potentially stood to profit from users looking for a new DAW.

There were many extremely dedicated people at Cakewalk, past and present, and I hope threads like this let them know their efforts were not in vain. Their work allowed us to experience the joy of making music in a way that fit the way we wanted to make music. I'm sure many of the advances they pioneered will work their way into other programs.

While the end game is profoundly disappointing, the Bakers can be proud of what they created and what they accomplished.

I started with Sonar 1 and purchased nearly every version since. This software was a dream come true and enabled me and my band to make excellent recordings without continuing to pay $10-15K in the studio for a full project. Thank you bakers! I hope you all land even better gigs soon which will enable you to use your incredible talents. Merry Christmas!
