Probably a good idea to turn off cakewalk Analytics
Edit/Preferences/Cakewalk Analytics
Check the box: "I do not want to participate at all - Analytics will not be collected"
The analytics info is not being used anymore since program development has ceased.
It might cause a problem in the future if the server that Sonar talks to is shut down (?)
Better safe than sorry, shut it down now.

I don't see that in Sonar Professional, I guess it's a Platinum thing.

I don't see that in Sonar Professional, I guess it's a Platinum thing.
If you do have it, it would be under Advanced / Preferences - Analytics  Im not too worried about it myself. Its encrypted text data that is sent to Cakewalks server after a Cakewalk project is closed. The least that's going to happen is Cakewalk will try to send the data and then it will just fart  .

It's in Artist, it should be in Pro and Plat.

Nope, not seeing anything at the bottom in advanced preferences.

Hypothetically speaking, if someone has hopes that SONAR could still be sold off and revived, maybe leaving analytics on would be a good idea. I'm just imagining a potential buyer bringing up the point that Cakewalk already burned the existing user base and Cakewalk's side being able to point to analytics to say "No! Look! We still have 92.4% of the same daily usage average as before!"

Yes, that's a good point. I used to think that too, when they consider everyone talking about different DAWs in this forum.

I've always had it shut off. I have no clue what it's for and never really gave it any though. I'm not one to have my computer talking to motherships while I'm trying to get something done.

Wishful thinking, Dave. Any future buyer of Cakewalk will have already researched the user base and market potential. You wouldn't buy something for one hundred thousand (or whatever it is worth) without doing some preliminary research, would you? Sorry, Dave. Not trying to dis you in any way. I want to see Cakewalk live just like everyone else. What we need is a brilliant programmer, like the Reaper guy. or the Samplitude guy, or the tracktion guy to take it over and keep it a small, responsive company. The Cakewalk user base is big enough to support one or two really good programmers.

Oh, I absolutely agree with you. I've already outlined why I think it is pretty hopeless on some other posts. However, there are some still holding out hope and still planning to continue using SONAR for the foreseeable future and I think if that is the case it doesn't hurt to keep analytics enabled. It doesn't hurt to have an extra data point showing what the current user base represents assuming that data point is positive. Totally a long shot and grabbing at straws but still something the individual user can potentially contribute.
