setting loops

Hi,

I guess it must have been already asked but I didnt find the right set of search terms : when setting loops, what's the normal course of actions : 4 bars setting to 4:...:59 or 5:00:00 ?

Thanks

Start of first required bar to start of last required bar +1.  (if wanting whole bars)
It's important to set the end point as the position of the next data you do NOT want included in the loop. That data will not be played but you need whole bars (or beats) for timing to be right.

So.. Sorry to insist :) but : 59 or 00 ? Saying in another way : the whole bar is from 00 to 00 ? or 00 to 59 ?

Where are you getting this figure of 59 from?

To  answer your question, I would loop for entire measures, like Karyn said, so it would be 000

Still unsure about this 59 though - there are 960 ticks to consider so did you mean 959?

Start of the bar you want to the start of the bar after the last one you want.

So 4 bars starting at bar 3 you want 3,4,5,6  loop is from 3:00:00 to 7:00:00

A bit more explanation for clarity..

The start time (Bars, time, samples, whatever)  is inclusive.  All data from that point onwards including data at that time point.
The end time is exclusive.  All data up to that point, but not including any data at that point.

The end time is used as a "return to start point" marker.  Markers like this are actioned first before any note or other data. So as soon as the Now Time counter increments to 7:00:00 (in my example above) the first action Sonar takes is to reset the Now Time to the loop start point. This is the only way to ensure bar 6 is played in its entirety.

The same is true if you're making a selection.  If you want to select bars 3, 4, 5 and 6 the selection start is 3:00:00 and the selection end is 7:00:00
