I did not read your blog, but based on your thread title....... The worst thing you can do is use an mp3 for collaboration. I hope this is the last time I need to point this out (probably not) as I've done numerous times. An mp3 has about 72 samples at the beginning of file that is not present in a wav file. So you collaborator is immediately out of sync no matter what (s)he sends back to you. Compound that with your collaborator send her/his mix in an mp3 to the next collaborator and that collaborator is now out of sync and sends you a wav for the final. That wav is now (at minimum) 144 samples out of sync with you. One caveat, atmospheric or free form Jazz may not experience the out-of-sync as much as tight EDM or Rock or Prog or Metal.

Good read. It reminded me of just how far DAWS have come in 30 years. Best of luck to both you and Mixcraft!

I thought we were finished with this. This forum is for helping people with Sonar issues not promoting other software. That belongs in Software form. I tried Mixcraft and it is nice, but I might as well use my copy of X3e which has more going for it. And I agree with Ed, Mp3's are for the kids to play with :)

Wow! I picked up Mixcraft Pro 8 at the crossgrade price and I am digging it. Looks like Mixcraft will continue to improve the product in the future. I've been composing and recording music since the sixties and use and have used several of the DAWs out there. People are looking for alternatives just like I was, so this is an appropriate a venue as any to expose folks to them. I continue to use Sonar Platinum (I even purchased the lifetime updates) as well as Reaper, Presonus Studio One 3 in addition to Mixbus and Acid Pro. Cheers
I started out with nothing and I still have most of it left... http://daveowenmusic.com/http://fabulous52s.com/https://soundcloud.com/daveowenmusic Sonar Platinum Edition/Cakewalk by BandLab: Dell 8700 XPS i7 16GB RAM, Cyberpower laptop w/8GB RAM/i7/2GB NVidia card/Tascam US1641/Focusrite 18i6/Melodyne Studio 4/Waves Plugs (a lot)/Garritan/EWQL Symphony Silver & Fab 4 and a bunch of other stuff. Hey Backwoods, Thank you for the post. Just wanted to let you know that from time to time, we promote special upgrade offers to Mixcraft 8 Pro Studio from Mixcraft 7. Normally, the daily upgrade cost is $99. Next special offer will be around February, Presidents week. The special offer upgrade price will likely be $49! Anthony

Threads are scattered all over this forum these days - why start organizing now? How many times did I read "I'm putting this in the SONAR forum where it will get read?" So if a DAW maker does it, I can't really blame them. It takes me about a minute to peruse the other forums for a lost post along with any "proper" topics. I'd prefer that all the new software choices remain in one sub-forum, but then everyone in hell wants ice water. And I, for one, find it refreshing that another DAW would spend their time informing about what all can be done with their product, instead of a simple, one-time come on. Anthony and Mixcraft have put themselves out there. Reminds me of a now defunct but favorite software product where you could converse with the bakers. @

To be fair, tho, you have options in Mixcraft: WAV, FLAC, MP3, OGG, WMA.

Hi Jonny V,
To be honest, I did not realize the rules of the forum had changed and are only related to SONAR tech support and SONAR related topics. If that truly is the case, please confirm and I will no longer post threads about the Mixcraft 8 Pro Studio Crossgrade offer (should we decide to extend it beyond Jan 31). That does not necessarily mean I will no longer post here, as I am a SONAR registered user and always enjoy communicating with SONAR users. Having spent over half my adult life working for Cakewalk (19 years), like many of us former Cakewalkers, we continue to have pride in the journey (not the end result) of how Cakewalk matured into a pretty cool company with pretty cool products. AT, Thx for the support. You are right about all the Cakewalkers being accessible back in the day. Guys like Chris Rice, Jim K, Robin, Brandon, Greg (founder), Steve T, Carl J, Noel....! I am remiss by not including all of them, but the list would be way too long . -Anthony

I'm glad you did post about Mixcraft Anthony. Otherwise I wouldn't of had it on my radar. I wouldn't buy it for the regular sale price, but for $99.00 I'm seriously considering to go for it. Being a piano player I'm sure i'll find a use for Pianissimo. Have been watching the videos several times over and liking what I see. I know Mixcraft is not like Cubase, Samplitude, etc... but it still seems to offer a streamline work flow. The Live Recording To Performance Panel Grid Locations is what really got me interested.

Hi Instred, Cool! Regarding the Performance Panel, it can be used for live performance or in-studio recording. If you get a chance, check out this blog post by Mixcraft 8 CEO/Senior Developer that goes into detail describing features of the Performance Panel. http://www.multitrack-recording-software-for-musicians.com/2017/11/a-new-way-to-compose-songs.html Here is a video of me demonstrating it's "Live" use at a Musik Messe show. Check out the great performance by the incredibly talented Roland / Boss Guitar Demo dude, Youri DeGroote. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_L-vhgjym9I Anthony
