DPCLat and Sonar, Quick Test Please.....

Hi Guys,

It would be greatly appreciated if anybody who has DPCLat on their machine would be kind enough to do a quick test.  I encountered something rather concerning.  I'm hoping to verify it as either a DPCLat or Sonar problem rather than attributed to my new DAW itself.

Steps:
1)  Start Sonar (no need to open a project)
2)  Start DPCLat and let it run for a few seconds.
3)  Exit Sonar

At this point, on my machine, DPCLat redlines and stays there.  It will go back to normal if I restart Sonar, but the minute I exit Sonar DPCLat goes back to redline.  I have verified this using S2 and S5 (but suspect it can be replicated using later Sonar versions as well).  To clear things up requires quitting both Sonar and DPCLat.

Thanks very much to anybody willing to try this quick test so I can eliminate my DAW itself as the problem.

You should put your system specs and version Sonar. I just sort of remember that you are using XP. DLAP won't run anymore on newer OS version. We all use Latency Monitor. http://www.resplendence.com/latencymon
So no one can test unless they have your system.

And to add the audio drivers are what can cause that. I had this exact same issue with XP and my Tascam interface. The minute I turned on the interface DPCLT would spike and run in the red. Turn off the Tascam,,, back to low green.
It went away with W7 and the release of the next driver.

Oh, yes XP, thanks, wasn't aware DPCLat wouldn't work on later OS.  I'm thinking this is probably Sonar registering various DLL's for a DPC callback as a matter of standard procedure when loading, and then when DPCLat subsequently loads it also inserts itself in the chain.  So that when Sonar then tries to unload with DCPLat still running, either Sonar or DPCLat is still hanging onto something (or has notified something) in the DPC chain such that it is not behaving properly and DPCLat is picking up on this.  In other words, I suspect this is either a DPCLat or Sonar bug (or something else Sonar is causing to load upon startup) .  Rather than this being a problem with my DAW per se.   But unless somebody else can run this quick test I'm not sure how I'll ever know.   ????

When DPCLat is redlining is there any way to find out in which DLL/driver it is stuck??
