LOL the bass:  it's a Carvin LB70 active bass, run into a sansamp bass Di, split into a A Designs Audio MP-1 mic preamp (used as a bass premp) and dualed into one track.... the output of the A Designs runs into a DBX MC-6 compressor, and into the interface.

Your bass formula sounds great! Funny, I have an active Carvin bass too. I think I'll experiment more with my outboard gear. I would think the Sansamp bass Di is a big player in the chain. Thanks.

you know, i got interested in the sansamp bass di because of geddy lee. i found one locally on craigs list cheap, so i figure why not. it works well. it has parallel output, so you can use the internals as well as send a clean signal to any other processor, or just run it direct into an interface. i often run it in tandem with my mesa boogie guitar rig, and mic the 12" driver, and blend that in with the direct.
