Background noise from Gtrack USB mike

Hi, I used to use Sonar LE with a Gtrack Samson USB mike, all was ok really. Recently I decided to upgrade to Sonar professional and have started the free trial with a view to buying it. After quite a few config problems its sort of working but there is a huge amount of "hissing" in the background of every recording, which I didn't have on the old system. Has anyone any clues as to what I've done wrong? Obviously its a long time since I got the early system and I'm struggling to get up to speed here!

I'm not sure you'll be able to buy Sonar Professional now that Cakewalk is shuttered, so you might want to check whether it's worth moving from Sonar LE.
