Just thinking:Any way to interest Gibson to allow sales?

Yeah, I know... not likely.

But I was thinking it would be a great gesture on their behalf as well as satisfying many customers.

The idea is to allow sales with full authorization with an added agreement adjustment stating no further support or development so that people could acquire final updates/upgrades/purchases?

I'm guessing that being out of business means no, but it would be nice!

There would be no support for Windows updates and this is the real stumbling block. Imagine your PC merrily playing your recordings one day and overnight it performs a windows update and you cant access certain things the next day due to drivers being updated, new conflicts arising etc.. Plus conflicts with other hardware/software are always going to be a risk. It wouldnt be good for business in my opinion.

I think this is what they did!!!

Hope you're doing well Keni - I remember your frustrations with certain Sonar "improvements"!

I see what you're saying though.  Like a last-chance to purchase.  Being that I'm on Sonar 8.5 I would love that chance.  I believe the best way would be to get in touch with someone at Gibson to ask this question of.  No software on the market is promising to provide updates to fix all issues arising from future OS updates so I don't see a huge problem with their offering something like this but yes, there would of course need to be a big "Yes I understand there is no support/etc" check box for the software.  I think online petitions are a big waste of time and the person running that petition would still have to get in touch with a key person at Gibson to get them to view the results - which never guarantees sales anyway.

Still, it is not a bad idea Keni.  It would be extra sales for Gibson but I have to believe they discussed this as an option before shutting sales down on the website.

Totally understandable hence my mention of a waiver as such. Many people would be willing to accept a hat risk.

I'm on win8.1 and expect no changes.

Thanks Brian, but I don't think so. No one can buy for example he concrete limiter...

As far as me and issues? Yes, sadly now stuck with as-is, but happier with this than any of the other DAWs!

I'm still working just fine with Splat 2017.10 on a win8.1 machine!

Yeah, I can think of many issues, but it's hard to surrender hope!

Hope is all we can hope for in life right?

I only found out about the end of life in Dec so I'd be doubly-bummed if I also missed a last-chance sale.

You can still get a copy of latest version of Home Studio for free. Just check the software discussions. I was able to get a copy last night.

Sadly, there never was a last chance sale. The announcement came after the deed was done.

I can't help but think of Carvin who went as far as selling off all its products cheap "going out of business" style, then suddenly were back in business with new products!

I still dream (my version of pray in this case) is that some turnabout will surprisingly happen for Cakewalk! The change in my life losing Sonar development still has me reeling. Especially when a client is seeking guidance selecting a DAW... My heart simply isn't fully behind my words.
