Death and Taxes

Some dude got that right.

Just had to shell out a thousand bucks payback to the feds for getting the wife enrolled in Obamacare over the last year. Seemed like a good idea at the time, not knowing that there were smoke and mirrors operating below the surface. Never told us up front that the compassionate credit they offered would bite us back as taxable income. Could have done a lot better on my own choosing a plan at a lesser tax risk, but Obamacare had only limited expensive alternatives and gave us an offer we couldn't refuse. No disclaimer to read the fine print before cutting our throats in our ignorance.

Another ass wipe. The wife is hitting 65 and going onto medicare, plus supplement. We called a couple days ago to make sure the Obamacare was stopped starting next month to legally transition. Obamacare said we can't un enroll till some time in March way after medicare starts. Since the Obamacare will overlap with medicare, we will be fined for trying to milk the government for undeserved benefits while not eligible. No recourse for the little guy or family. Our government at its best again (unfortunately)

Ain't dead quite yet, so for now, taxes are the universal constant.

Bummer,

John

Yeah, maybe just a reaction to the sting of a target on my forehead I was clueless about until after the fact. So crucify me if I'm not a lawyer and didn't do the hidden fine print research before enrolling.

Still love the guy and glad I voted for him twice. In retrospect, we got off with maybe 75 dollars a month for gold premium catastrophic coverage. Would have kicked in after 8000 out of pocket. Was probably marginally worth it in retrospect. Better than going bankrupt with a million dollar bill for some lightning bolt out of the sky.

Ya, the ACA was far from perfect (due to purely political/greed based reasons) but based on the stats it did indeed seem to help more people than it harmed.

I am a non USian though so the whole healthcare thing ya'll got going on down there is rather boggling.

Speaking of the little guy, it was interesting that the top officials and Congress were specifically exempt from Obamascare. What's good for the goose is apparently, not good the gander.

Sorry to hear that  John.....a lot of people are going through that.
Hope the transition will go smoothly.

Yes, have to admit that Obamacare has helped many. I just happened to get bit. Had everything saved up for two Focusrite hardware boxes. Now it goes back to the government almost to the penny.

Could be worse. Have a good friend in the hospital with a so far un diagnosed inflammatory condition. Just underwent failed heart surgery to add to the mess. Now kidneys falling apart and losing blood somewhere. Said yesterday was a burnout with a continuous line of doctors and specialists all with their fingers in the pie. He celebrated his total bill over the last four months now breaking 1.5 million dollars with no end in site.

Thanks for the good vibes Mesh. Paid Obama back and moving on.
