Help Please!

I have a problem that I know has been discussed previously in this forum, but I have tried to do what everyone has said to fix it and have still come to no resolve. I have read of other people having this same problem as well.
Okay here goes:
I use MC 2003, and I have a Behringer mx 802A mixer. I am running from the main line out on the mixer into the line in on the soundcard, and from the line out on the soundcard to the tape in on the mixer, using the headphone jack to monitor playback and recording. I have the control room button depressed and the tape to mix button pressed, and everything seems to be in order. The problem is, when I record a single track of anythig (drums, guitar, etc..) it sounds really good on the playback of track 1, but when I try to record the second track, it bleeds the first track over into it. Even if I have no signal going into the 2nd track while recording, it will still pick up the first tracks signal giving it a chorus-like effect on playback . And if I mute either track they sound fine individually, but not playing simultaniously. If I lay down a 3rd or 4th track and so on, one track just bleeds into the next creating a snowball effect getting worse each time. Apparently this happens kind of frequently to other people, what can I do to make it stop? I have re-configured all my connections in all shapes and forms trying to find the one that won't allow it to do this, but if it is connected the way I have been told to connect it (which is how I have it setup now)this is what happens.
I feel like I've tried it all and nothing has worked.

Can someone please help me?

Thanx,
Rythym

The following site looks like a good place to find an answer.

Hey thanx for the reply man. They do talk about this topic on that link you provided, but the problem is, is that noone there really presents a solution to fix it, and any suggestions they do have I have tried already. Still not working unfortunately.

    Thanx though for the info.

    Rythym.

Basic question: have you checked your playback/recording settings on your soundcard?

Briefly, but there is not really a whole lot to look at in that respect.
What am I looking for in particular?

I had a similar problem as yours, and I suspect my soundcard settings, but am not positive they were the culprit since I went back to step 1 and did other things differently than my first attempts.

Anyway, on my Soundmax card, for my playback settings, I mute microphone and line in. On my recording settings, I have only microphone selected.

Good luck, stick with it. Eventually the planets align and you will have a decent recording!

Go into your sound card program or MC or the Windows mixer, which one is it, guys? and turn off (uncheck) the "what you hear" option. I think. Greg

I have not seen any kind of " What you hear" option, in my soundcard or in music creator.
So I'm just wondering if I need a new card or what.??????????

I am just wondering if there is a setting on music creator that needs adjusting or what, cause it used to work just fine, but it is not now. Or if M.C. is just not working properly or what.

My soundcard, a SoundMax, doesn't have the 'What you hear' option either. But I do have settings for playback and recording. Normally for recording, I have microphone selected, but if I want to say, copy midi drums to audio drums, I have a 'wave out mix' option which I select.

For playback , I have the ability to mute selected inputs. I normally have 'microphone' and 'line in' muted.

I came to the above selections somewhat through trial and error, but they are probably common-sense things. You might have to experiment with your card.

Have you tried simplifying your setup by removing the mixer, getting things to work, then adding the mixer back in? Might help.

Not yet, but I will. I guess I should have thought of that by now huh?
Thanx, I will try it and post a reply with my results.
