Problem with VS-700 i/o settings

Problem with VS-700 i/o settings

I deleted drivers and reinstalled drivers for 700c & rack. Everything seemed to work nice again a couple days ago when I tried it all out.
Today I go to record and I'm getting a warning message >>>"Warning unable to pen midi ports to the VS-700R. Make surethat the VS-700R is connected and its MIDI ports are not in use by any other application"<<<<
 
I'm not using any midi. i haven't unhooked anything. Only thing i did was delete and reinstall drivers.
When I open the VS-700 in utilities I get that message above and in the access panel MIC PRE & DIRECT MIX are greyed out and I can't access them, which of course I need to, to get to the settings of the Rack and the Focusrite which goes through the vs via ADAT.
Playback and everything work as always it is just recording that's all messed up now.
 
Anybody remember or know what setting I need to make in preferences???

VS 700 System 
Focusrite Liquid Saffire 56
(Focusrite is only on when recording)

    somehow I was able to solve this after a series of checking and unchecking things in the midi devices section of preferences.

    Windows 8.1 Pro X64 Sonar Platinum x64
    Processor - AMD FX 8350 Eight Core Processor 4GB
    32 GB Memory
    VS 700 System 
    Focusrite Liquid Saffire 56
    (Focusrite is only on when recording)
