Dead Computer, in middle of multiple projects...
Hi, I'm so sorry for having to ask this before digging into the forum and searching, but I'm in a big rush and a panic as I have a replacement computer all set to go to finish my deadline work, but I can't figure out how to reinstall Sonar Platinum. I did have the last, latest version, and I'm hoping there's a way to get it onto the new computer. Thanks so much. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Jerry

When you say "Dead Computer" - which part died?
First of all, install all available Windows updates. Then log on to your Cakewalk account and download Cakewalk Command Centre. Using that you can download all the products you are entitled to.
(Yes, the servers are still up)

Thanks Promidi! Will do! Someone put the idea in my head that the server weren't up and I neglected to check. Also, I've built my own computers for decades, so in this case the MOBO is dead. The "off the shelf" one I have to finish the project will be temporary. I know that some people call computers "Dead" when a HD or power supply dies (or their monitor dies, ha, ha) which is not the case here. Thanks again.
Hi Scook! Thank you man, that'll cover me, I didn't even think of that and I do have AD Drums 2 and Melodyne in those projects.
One more question. I thought that I heard there was a way to have installation files at the ready in case we ever needed to re-install without Command Center. Is this possible? And if so, how do we do that? Thanks again.

To get your install files for safekeeping and reinstallation without using Command Center, just log into your Cakewalk account and click on My Products. All your registered products should be there with a download link. For Platinum and some of the thi8ngs like Rapture Pro that have come out since Platinum, you probably still have to use the Command Center for authorization.

Installing with or without the Command Center are covered in the instructions linked in my post above.

Pull the hard drive from your dead computer and install it to a drive bay in the new machine. First- Download and install Command center from your account.. don't run it yet. This next step avoids re downloading the files again-- Go to old drive / Program Data/Cakewalk/Command center/downloads and copy that to the same location of your new C drive. Now run Command center and it will use those files and all will go super fast. I'm just doing this now as I type as I put a new SSD in my laptop and starting fresh. Command center speeds up the installation 10 fold over doing it manually. If any of your files were out of date it will download the newer version and ignor the old ones. And you will want a copy of that download folder stored somewhere safe. Also for future proof you can go to your "my Products" page and make screen shots or copy paste all your serial and registration codes for all your products.

There's also the content folders that you can copy from your old drive too the new one. Example the Cakewalk Content which is at the root of C drive, then inside "Program Files copy the Cakewalk folder too for me it was 8 GB. What I'm doing is just looking in the old drive and copying anything that I think will take a long time to download over to the same location on my new SSD. Then I'll start installing. I find there's plenty of room on a 240 GB SSD for all my Music software and content. Only 3rd part stuff I have is Air which is an extra 30 GB.

Hey, thanks so much Cactus Music, great info.
Also, thanks again Scook, BRainbow and ProMidi, I really do appreciate your help.
I'm guessing you guys are as excited as I am that Band Labs is here. I've been with Cakewalk since 91' and didn't want to change DAW's. The Vocal Speed Comping alone is something I don't think anyone else out there has in their software. Take care guys.
