Server Busy message

I've been seeing this message 'Server Busy - you can't do this because the other program is busy. Choose Switch To to correct this' - or words to that effect. I don't know what it means but I've seen it when adding a plug.
Just now I got that message opening a project in Sonar for the first time. Anyone know what it means?

Thanks - rev

Hi. I recently had this happen to me as well, when opening SONAR.
IIRC the options were: Retry, Switch to or Cancel.
Never found out what the cause was, as I was just about to do a fresh install of everything on my studio PC.
That is now done, and will report if the issue returns.
Perhaps someone else can share some light onto this.
    All the best.

try disabling the "analytics" thing if you have it turned on (can't imagine what would prompt a server call when adding a plugin?)

Just a thought but it could be to do with bitbridge which is used to run 32bit plugins in 64bit sonar. This system effectively loads a 32 bit plugin into a virtual "server"

That message comes from deep in Windows. The "server" is some local program that is the target of passing some data or operation request by OLE (Windows API) from some other local program. The message happens when the server is slow to complete the operation. You can hit retry until the thing is done. Whoever implemented the requesting program should have foreseen the delay and provided a more friendly way to run things.
