Melissa

This is a song that I wrote and recorded about 12 years ago for my beautiful wife. The mix is way less than ideal. The acoustic drums need help, and the 12 tracks of violin that I played on it toward the end are out of phase(don't listen in mono, they'll disappear!). I would love to remix this, but the tracks are long gone. I still like the song though, and I hope you do too. Any comments are welcome.

Please realize that I know the mix sucks!

Sounds OK here Bob, not sure about the echo on the lead vocal seems to be a little to long in places.  Nice guitar tone on the lead, sweet whistle too.  Heartfelt vocal performance, thanks for sharing.

The mix didn't sound bad - really impressive lead vocal - that's what stood out to me.

Thank you Wookiee! I agree with the vocal delay. I wish I had the original tracks, so I could fix some things. Thank you for listening, and for the kind words!

I really like the vocal and the guitar work is very good. I always appreciate lyrics that are sincere and heartfelt too.
Not sure if you need the strings around 4:00 tho.

Thank you Bjorn! Glad you like it! You're probably right about the violins. It was just a personal choice I made at the time. Can't change it now. Thanks for listening!

I like the  chords, the prominent full bass that doesn't overwhelm, the wide panned acoustic guitars, and the vocal performance is suh-weet!

The power-chording electric guitar around 1:30 is a bit loud, just a hair loud in my opinion.

The delay on the vocal I actually liked. This is for me a late '70's song, and I don't mean a little bit. This would sit perfectly on a Boston album. Don't ya think?

Violin section was the only reach, for me it didn't mesh but I get what you were shooting for there.

By your description, I was expecting utter crap - but I really like it a ton!!!

    cheers,
    -Tom

    Hi Tom,
Thanks a lot for listening, and your detailed comment! I appreciate the compliments, and totally understand your points on the guitar being a little loud in spots, and on the violin part. Both valid points. I'm glad you liked it though! Thanks again!

Bob, this song sounds huge, in spite of your nits.  I agree with everyone else, your vocals and guitar are the real deal.  That must have been a lot of fun to write and record.  I'm glad I could hear it.

I always like listening to your stuff.  It has that 90's rock/metal feel, with a nice progression on the verses.  I like the vocal performance and the delay effect, it works.  There were a few places it sounded like you were stretching your range, but it mostly worked well, to my ears.  Loved that solo too, nice one.  You have a good songwriting sensibility.  Drums were a little bland, but that's hard to judge since it's a ballad.  If this came on the radio I would turn it up every time.

Thanks bro! I feel the same about your stuff. I know whenever you have a song posted it's gonna be good(btw, when's your next one coming out)! I agree on the drums. They weren't recorded very well. I appreciate the compliments man! Thanks for listening!

I was expecting it to sound like crap.   Fortunately for my ears it did not.

Sure, it could sound better by today's standards and using today's technology.   But for a 12 year old "home production" I thought it was pretty good.   Loved the vocals... and the short guitar solo with its feedback outro.

You know what? It's a good song, but I would redo this song as a live YT video with just you and the acoustic guitar. I think you'd be surprised how good it would sound like that. The electric guitar is distracting in my humble opinion. Really, just you and the acoustic where you can really put your heart into it. Give it a try. I want to hear it. Have that video on my desk by Monday.

Hahaha! Actually I just played this acoustically for my wife about a month ago. You, may have something there, Wayfarer. Thanks for checking it out!
