How to duplicate clip enveloppes to another clip ?
Hello there ! I am actualy recording guitar on 2 simultaneous tracks. One of the track gets the amp sound and the other track gets the unprocessed D.I sound. So i am actualy getting the exact same clips and takes on 2 different tracks (only the sound differs). I'd like to copy the clip enveloppes from the track that receives the AMP sound to the track that receives the D.I sound as the clips are exactly the same. Any idea on how to do that on sonar platinum ? Thanks in advance for your help. J.

Hi. You should be able to do this with "copy special". Not in front of my DAW, so not sure, but think it is Ctrl+Shift+C. It's under the edit menu, in any case. All the best.

checking only the " clips automation " box in the " copy special " options is not possible unfortunately. In fact it seems you can't uncheck " Clips events " box while " clips automation " box is checked. In other words, it seems i copying " Clips events " is mandatory while copying " clips automation " ! That means it overwrites the clips on the target track, so i am stucked.

I just did a test, and it works as expected. Make sure you select automation only, and in (as an example) volume drop down menu. Edit: After paste.

Track automation can be selected without the clip. Clip automation cannot.

Yeah, I'm afraid that clip automation becomes part of the clip, it's not just overlaid on it like track automation.

I should learn to read a little slower. After reading "2 tracks", I didn't notice the clip envelope part..

Recording a " clone D.I track " for reamping purposes has become quite common nowadays ! Allowing the copy of clip enveloppes from the processed track to the D.I track would save a lot of time... Especialy when you have a lot of takes ! I wonder if there are other DAW allowing that.

I know Done it several times myself. Just a thought. If you collapse the take lanes, and copy the automation from the "main track view", would that work?

It seems you can't copy the clips automation without copying the events as well.
