Strange audio dropout. Always in the same places. [SOLVED]

I'm having a problem with audio dropout in a particular project. Oddly, it appears to happen around the same place, bars 40 and 80, each time. I have every plugin turned off, but it still drops out in the same places. It's acting as if there is a read forward plug still in there somewhere because it take a second or two to begin play after hitting start.

I have tried increasing the buffers for playback but still the same. Other projects act normally.

Cheers.

Select all the tracks and bounce to clips all of them, and go for a jog cause it's gonna be a while but lots of scattered clips can be a problem. save the file first if you're nervous.

Well, that didn't work.
Same dropout, same places.

Anyone have more ideas?

Here's the weird thing.
No matter where playback is started, it plays for around 40 bars, then drops out.
Restart. Another 40 bars and dropout.

Do you have any demo plugin loaded into that project? Some of them either insert noise or dropout even disabled if the transport is running. iZotope's Vinyl is the odd ball... it is designed to insert noise but does so even when the transport is stopped.

The regular interval makes it seem like a demo may be in that project. Is it the entire project or select tracks doing so?

Maybe some automation data is turning on/off a plugin that uses delay compensation? Also check if one of your audio tracks doesn't contain corrupted audio data at these measures.

I've had the same problem in the past and the only thing that seemed to work was to have two projects on the go and with the same plug-ins and copy and paste each track to the new file songname 2, then saved the original and and the new folder and after ending Sonar done a computer re-start, loaded Sonar and songname 2 and for some reason that worked for me! I suspect the freezing/unfreezing of tracks could have caused the problem ... who knows ...hope it works for you.

Global bypass all plugins and see if the dropout persists. If it does, then you've eliminated plugins as suspects. If not, start deleting plugins one by one until the dropout stops happening.

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.

Or bypass the FX bins and disconnect the synths one at a time.

Thanks guys for all your interest and ideas but I have solved it .... or so far so good.

I don't know how the new aux busses work exactly .. you'd assume, just like any other buss, but no, they are a little bit weird.

I had all my drums routed to an aux buss with Pro Channel compressor on it in order to parallel compress the drums, however, it wasn't activated. I discovered that engaging the Input Echo button would allow the song to play without dropout. Disengage Input Echo on the buss, and the problem returned. Is this not strange behavior for a buss?

In the end I just deleted the aux buss, put my plugins back, and all is well ... so far.

Cheers.

Yeah, that was a nice find... one weird anomaly with the Aux tracks introduction that may/may not have been addressed was that soloing an Aux track muted it because the feeding track(s) also needed to be soloed. That was a bit problematic and confusing.
