This is one of my favorites which you have done. Is that and electric 12 string, or an acoustic-electric 12 string at the beginning? It sounds real good and solid.

hi wookiee!! not my typical fare (i don't do covers) but this was special, inspired by hurricane katrina and the aftermath, that was my touchstone for trying to get on with the lyrics.

Definitely "your take"! I love it, maybe you should do the occasional "your take" cover more often. T

hi eph! there are both electric and acoustic 12 strings on this, blended in with my Taylor 414 doing the heavy lifting. the beginning, tho, is mostly just multiple tracks of me playing different parts at different positions on the neck, kinda like a psuedo mandolin track, but i'm playing on the high strings of the 6-string acoustic, and at the middle neck, and at the low neck.

"my take".... heheh, there are so many songs i like (by others) it'd be hard to pick em. this one wasn't so easy either... i did several 'karaoke' style versions (to my ear!) before i landed on this one.

OK, now that is a unique version. IOW, "+1" to the above. I really liked it. The acoustics + groove give it a great feel, and the slide solo was a perfect fit. Honestly, I think I'd prefer to listen to this version over the original.

nice of you to say, stevec.... this song goes back in my head, as far as i can remember.... i wrote this version as a direct response to the hit that NOLA took from hurricane katrina, i used to live in new orleans, so it felt personal. i kinda zepped it a bit. LOL
