Problem loading FLAC files

There seems to be a problem with the way Sonar/Cakewalk handles FLAC files. When I drag FLAC files into CbB the program hangs, and it takes ages until it finishes loading the audio data.
 
I've Had the same problem in every version of Sonar I've had or tried. Now I'm using CbB. I've seen some old threads reporting the same problem, so I'm not the only one, but also it seems it's not a spread or recurrent problem, maybe not many people use FLAC files in their projects.
 
If the files are first converted to WAV they will load fast. I can do that with all my projects, but maybe there's a fix or something I could try so I don't have to convert all those files. I have many projects stored in FLAC, 24/44.1.

    They will get converted to wav files one way or another, Cakewalk does not use flac files in projects.

    Is your project file also at the same sample rate as the FLAC files? Otherwise it will be a lengthy sample rate conversion depending on the file length.
    Can you share one of the flac files that exhibit the problem and I can take a look.

    Thanks Noel, no sample rate conversion is involved, Project and files are 44.1.
    You could try with this file:

    That's the point. Cakewalk is having problems doing the conversion. It doesn't happen in other DAW, and I don't want to make the intermediate step of converting all those files to WAV before loading them into CbB.
