Organizing Plug Ins?

Hi;

Now that I have Cakewalk by Bandlab (and I don't have to say Sonar X3 user anymore*) I'd like to re organize my plugin menu in how they are listed and categorized in the browser. I specifically want to get rid of the "Uncategorized" name and at least change the name.  Is there anyway I could do that?

* Feels nice to be on the same page as most everybody here.

Thanks
John B

For a start, right-clicking the FX or Instruments tabs in the browser, you can select to list by type or manufacturer which can be handy. Right-clicking on an individual plugin will let you add it to a category. In the little box that pops up you can select an existing category or type in a name for a new one. You can also remove a plug from a category in the same way. I have a category called Fav which lists my most commonly used plugs for example. Also, the insert plugin menu now lists the 5 most recently used plugs at the top which is a useful time saver.

Splat, Win 10 64bit and all sorts of musical odds and sods collected over the years, but still missing a lot of my old analogue stuff I sold off years ago.

You can categorize plugins any way you want using the plugin layouts feature and making your own layout.
In the plugin browser tab drop down menu, choose "Manage Layouts..." and you can edit the layout and make your own folders to categorize the plugins the way you choose.

To do properly it's painstaking at first. I check every single plugin I have and carefully consider folders and subfolders, but then it's very fast and easy to find what I'm after.

Also remember if you have Sound Forge or Vegas/Movie Studio that you can use their fxs as plugins by adding the relevant folders to your vst directories.

Do the changes translate over to the Insert menu and FX dropdowns?

I used the plug in layouts and did this last week even made more categories that made more sense when looking for stuff. It works very well.

    Windows 8.1 Pro X64 Sonar Platinum x64
Processor - AMD FX 8350 Eight Core Processor 4GB
    32 GB Memory
    VS 700 System
    Focusrite Liquid Saffire 56
(Focusrite is only on when recording)

Yes as long as the same layout is selected in the corresponding dropdown menu any changes to that layout will be reflected there.
