Cakewalks New Direction
When I first heard that Cakewalk was acquired by Gibson Guitars, who is $560 million in debt, I internally groaned in disappointment. Why? Being a guitar player (who plays anything but a Gibson) who actually worked at the Gibson factory, I am all to familiar with Gibson's less than professional way of operating. I was hoping that mindset would not carry over to Cakewalk but I was wrong. Sent an email stating that I was having an issue with BIAS FX in Sonar Pro. A program I spent a substantial amount of money on. Customer Support response was your S.O.L. and we wont help. Glad I wasn't suckered into paying for the lifetime updates promo. As there are so many other choices in DAWS (and guitars) there is no point in dealing with a company that won't honor its products sold. Cakewalks promises of old are now pointless and empty. Sometimes people can't see the ship sinking until its too late. Doubt I will respond to any posts as I am fairly confident that most responses will be negative from guys living in their mom's basement during a break from World Of Warcraft. The email. Hi Criss, Thanks for reaching out. Moving forward, BandLab cannot offer support for any previous versions of SONAR, as they were effectively discontinued after the launch of . If you need help with legacy products, the Cakewalk User Forum will still exist, either in its current form or at least as an archived resource for past users. It is still active, and our CEO has been involved quite a bit lately as well. We love to hear feedback and even have a thread for improvements and feature requests. For anything related to Cakewalk by BandLab, feel free to contact us and we'll be here to help. Cheers, Amon

You know...the new Cakewalk is free. Wouldn't hurt to upgrade to it and try it out...just saying...it's surprisingly robust for being free. Fully featured. No limitations...no harm, no foul to try it out. On top of that, Bandlab supports it, and are quite active here on these forums as well.

Criss, what you need to realize is that without the generosity of BandLab and Meng, you would now be staring into a black screen. Still you have this forum, and your fellow Sonarians to help you out. In case you didn't notice, the Sonar ship sank a couple of months ago. Of course customer support for legacy products are gone ... you can not expect a company to provide support for a product they never sold. To insinuate that that is unprofessional, borders to the absurd.

Totally agree. That's like complaining X1 is no longer supported while platinum is being currently supported and updated and given away for free. Wah.wah.wah. Why won't they support X1 anymore. Like saying why won't they support windows 95 anymore??? But they're offering free multi-threading 64-bit PCs with Windows 10 for free.

Such users can go upstairs and ask mom "if A does not work with B and there is no support for B, what should I do?" But for me its time to visit the basement, my wife has just called me with "what the ... is deposited near the entrance door? I can not even move it!". That means the table saw is delivered

I really wish people like the OP would get it into their dis-functioning brains that the company they bought Sonar from is not the company that now develops Cakewalk. BL can't honour a purchase they were not involved in and they can't provide support for a product they didn't sell. The only people who are too ignorant or nieve to understand how business works for grown-ups are, "guys living in their mom's basement having a break from World Of Warcraft."
Splat, Win 10 64bit and all sorts of musical odds and sods collected over the years, but still missing a lot of my old analogue stuff I sold off years ago.

Other DAWs have trouble with 3rd party software, too. This forum is full of helpful folks. Try post another thread with a subject line something like "Bias FX not working with Sonar Pro" and describe the issue you are having. Chances are someone has had to work through a similar issue and will jump in.

Chris, the CS rep was correct in the response that Bandlab cannot support the SONAR brand because it was owned by Cakewalk, inc a different company. We acquired the ASSETS of Cakewalk. That said, Cakewalk by BandLab is actually based on the same code as SONAR Platinum and being developed every day. If you have the same problem with this plugin in CbB we are more than happy to look into it. Please update your case after you have tested this out in CbB and if its still a problem I can take a look at it.

The same users the OP insults could probably offer helpful advice on how to get things to work. But it would be necessary to know what the problem is (along with system specs and such(.
