what benefit from using the same email?

so what exactly would i lose if i register @ bandlab with a different email than i had with cakewalk?

    Note: If you previously had a Cakewalk account, sign up for a free BandLab account with the same email address you used with your Cakewalk account. This ensures that BandLab can verify any previous purchases, and any future upgrade or cross grade opportunities will be available to you.

    For example, if BandLad does not know about a previous Rapture Pro purchase, the BandLab version will be a paid upgrade.

    but they didn't take on the company activities, just the IP? so it doesn't matter what i bought from cakewalk... if i have, say, rapture pro, i already have it, i wouldn't buy it again

    that makes sense - bandlab will be continuing development of other previously-cakewalk products, not just sonar, coolio... i wonder which ones they'll continue

    i wonder if they'll accept previous "proof of purchase" as well as a same email address - could get that from cleverbridge etc

    So far Rapture Pro is the only thing mentioned but I am sure there are plans for more. Still pretty early.

    Probably but that is more costly than the planned account migration.
