Still stuck in Demo mode

Good day all,
Just wanted to check and see if anyone else is still stuck in DEMO mode. Even after being in contact with Band lab about this. I have tried a lot of things suggested, but still to no avail. Am wondering why there is even a demo mode available for a free software..........hhmmmm? Last thing I  tried was to open c drive, (a drive in my case) go to program data under cakewalk and remove cake authentication in side folder......this did allow me to get farther in the download, but all tries ends up in demo mode. I wonder if it has anything to do with Win 7, or the fact that all my software is now on a drive....maybe the program is trying to load to the c drive causing a problem............oh well, just wondering...
Thanks
MJ

Try giving the Bandlab installer Administrator privileges. It may be having problems writing to a registry location.

Yeh, it's weird that a free program would have a demo mode. But keep in mind that it's essentially a re-branded SONAR, compiled from the SONAR source, so there is likely a bunch of legacy code in there that will eventually be removed or adapted to the new paradigm.

    Good day,
Well, I've tried just about everything, and still can not evade demo mode. I'm not sure what I  will do now......S1 is still loaded and so is sonar plat......anyway I  will carry on. Maybe on next update I  can join in.
    Thanks,

It's true: it's not a good idea to routinely run software as Administrator, the reason being that any malware hiding in seemingly trustworthy programs would also have admin rights and therefore be able to create more mischief. Intentionally limiting your own permissions is a safeguard against that.

However, programs written before Windows instituted such draconian measures can have problems installing. I don't believe this is the case with Cakewalk, as it long ago adapted to the new security restrictions by following Microsoft's recommendations about where it was and was not OK to write data. I just threw the Administrator idea out because, well, sometimes it works.

It has been brought to my attention that there are actually reasonable reasons for having a demo mode in a free program. Even though you don't have to pay money for the core program, it's still proprietary IP that can only be acquired under its owner's terms. Those terms include establishing an identity and telling BandLab who you are via an account - just like any other free software such as Facebook.

You couldn't, for example, legally download Cakewalk from some random filesharing site. Not saying that's your problem, just pointing out that even free stuff has prerequisites to be met before an installation can be considered legit. And that's why there's still a demo mode.

I have the same problem here.
I followed all the technical support guidelines, but it did nothing.
The problem is not with Cakewalk. The problem is with the BandLab wizard.
I'll wait a little longer. Who knows how to fix this bug?

... same here! I additionally uninstalled using Revo Uninstaller to clear my registry, booted up, but I can't get rid of this annoying demo mode. Finally, I registered again with my second mail address, but no way to get the program work regularily.
    Also hope for an update....

    Hello all,
I was hoping the bandlab support guy would have gotten back to me with more things to try. This is what I've been  told so far.
    1.    Open Bandlab Assistant
    2.    Click gear at top left and choose quit
    3.    Ensure Cakewalk by Bandlab is closed before proceeding (you can check task manager to make sure both programs are not running)
    4.    Find following: C:\Program  Data\Cakewalk\Cakewalk core\command center
    5.    Delete all files in this folder location (but not the folder itself)
    6.    Open Bandlab Assistant
    7.    Go to apps> Cakewalk by Bandlab, and click open, or use the desktop icon to launch Cakewalk by Bandlab

Sorry to say, this didn't work for me, but maybe someone else might be helped. He did say there were other things to try. Within registry,........but he wanted to try other things before going there.
I may play around by my self to see if I can work it out. Couldn't  hurt.😲
