4 Excluded plug-ins

I don't know if others are seeing this, but when I first installed CbB, 4 of the bundled plug-ins were missing from the list of available plug-ins for use by Cakewalk.

These are the Boost 11 limiter, the Percussion Strip, the Tube Leveler, and the Vocal Strip.

If your clean install or upgrade of Cakewalk is missing them, to (re)enable them, go to the Utilities menu, then select Cakewalk Plug-In Manager.

When Plug-In Manager comes up, click on VST Audio Effects, and down below, select Show Excluded. In the middle column, you should see a list of 4 plug-ins, Boost11, Percussion Strip, Tube Leveler, and Vocal Strip.

You may enable these plug-ins by clicking on their names and then clicking on the button Enable Plug-In, which is down below the left-hand column.

I don't know why they keep getting excluded; they work just fine once I enable them.

Interesting...

While resolving a problem with my install of Hybrid 3 I saw these but as I rarely use them, i left as is thinking them to be either redundant or 32 bit versions or such.

I'll investigate more tomorrow...

Thanks for posting this...

I noticed this as well - but I was upgrading from a Sonar Pro install.  There was a thread about this same subject a few weeks back after the initial CbB release. It does require the exact steps as you explained, I didn't realize this may an issue coming from an X3 release or a previous Platinum release.

Strange...

Tho i have found these as excluded, they are fully functional in CbB without re-enabling...

Yes, same. After a clean install of CbB, I particularly missed the vocal strip, as I tend to use it often, and thought maybe it just wasn't available in the new version.
As you mentioned, I found it in the excluded plug-ins, enabled it, and it worked just fine. Strange, as it is not listed as one of the available plug-ins in the new CbB.
Can't think of a reason for this, just one of life's many mysteries.

If you already had it from Sonar, it would/should have migrated during your install of CbB...

For me what's strange is these are excluded according to the excluded list in VST Plugin Mgr., but they wre alive and well for me in CbB, so I'm thinking maybe there were 2 copies???

Thanks for pointing this out.  You might also want to note (lest there be anymore dummies like me on board) that after you enable them you have to go into the selection box and select them to put them into a folder just as you would while in the process of building your own custom plug in file.  Yesterday, Euthymia was gracious enough to give me these instructions and when I went into the plugins manager to enable these I noticed that after I pushed the Enable button they disappeared and I was wondering where they got to.  After posting again on the thread where Euthymia told me about the Vocal Strip and how to get it it occurred to me that it was probably in the selection box like the rest of them (duh!) waiting to be assigned to a folder, and it was.

Re: 4 Excluded plug-ins 2018/05/29 11:00:55 (permalink)
They definitely come with CbB, because my computers have never seen SONAR anything. I only have an account here because I registered for a free download of CA-2A a few years ago when they were giving it away, although I used SONAR when it first called itself that 15 or so years ago.

I found the files by spelunking around in the file structure that Cakewalk installed, and only then figured out how to enable them. You don't need to have an existing installation of SPLAT or X3 or whatever.

My guess is that whoever builds the installer package Excluded those plug-ins because at one point BandLab did not intend to give them away with CbB, but then they decided otherwise and while the plug-ins get copied, the config file didn't get updated and maybe gets overwritten each time.

Whatever, 4 free plug-ins! And the Vocal Strip seems to be useful indeed. Lots of good processing in that plug-in. Glad that you found it so, John!

Not really.

This is all by design and started with Music Creator 7 when the style dials were introduced. First discovered and discussed in that area of this forum. Intentionally excluded in the plug-in inventory, the plug-ins mentioned support the style dials. The versions of SONAR that bundled the plug-ins by name have copies installed in the regular VST folders. The excluded binaries that support the style dials are installed with the PC modules.
