Looking So Long

Hi Everybody,
This is the first track off my sixth album.  I wrote it back in 2011 but didn't record it until recently.  Any critiques are welcome.

Thanks,
Doug

I like the intro hook a lot. It feels like the guitar is just a skosh ahead of the drums in spots. If your drum tracks are all midi, you might experiment with sliding the whole drum track up a very small amount, see what happens?

Great  guitar and bgvs work. Like Jerry Garcia singing a human league tune! Me like. This song has a nice structure.

emarldsoul - Thanks for your comments and critiques.  Maybe I'll try moving up the drums on the verses.  Drums are always a pain to program properly.

Could be just my tired furry ears but the guitar sounded a little boxy in the opening bars, again could well just be me having spent the day with my furry ears stuck to the telephone trying to get my ISP to grow up.

Other than that all sounds fine here thanks for sharing.

Wow, this song just drew me in like a magnet.  At first, I thought it was a little on the lo-fi end, but as the song played on, I realized that this is the right recipe for this.  All in all, it has a cool retro vibe that I've always loved.

    All the best,
    Lynn

G'day Doug, how's it going? Are there quite a few open guitar chords in this song? Just curious. I'll tell you what...this sounds 'live' this song. It has a live kind of late night sound to it. I agree with what Wookie said in terms of the guitar.

Lynn - I'm glad you liked the song - thanks for listening.

ramscrapi - thanks for listening and for your comments.

eph221 - Sorry the link didn't work for you - I checked it and it works now.

montezuma - Thanks for listening.  That "live" sound that you mentioned is interesting - I agree with you - it does sound live.  The rhythm guitar tones are TH3 Overloud.

the drums are definitely off by a little bit until you get into the groove.  I think it's just the first 8 bars or so.  As for the song, I feel you've done better but not all songs hit the g-spot like they're supposed to.  In other words, I don't think this is your single for the album, but it seems heartfelt and honest and serves its function. :D:D
