Need MIDI guru help with MIDI drop outs. Please!

New to MIDI, and I'm getting random MIDI event drop outs that are clearly in the PRV; in other words, I can see the events that should trigger notes in a VSTi. Sometimes they don't trigger the VSTi, sometimes they do.

There's no rhyme or reason that I can see, so I've been fiddling with adjustable settings in in Preferences/MIDI/Playback and Recording (specifically, "Number of Buffers" and "Millisecond Buffers) and in Preferences/Audio/Sync and Caching (the Playback and the Record I/O Buffer Size).

Am I heading in the right direction? Nothing seems to help.  Thanks so much!
Billy

I think you're heading in the right direction. Buffers at 2500 is what worked for me.

Thanks so much. I wasn’t sure if you could crank it up that high.

Craig, buffers at 2500. That seemed to do the trick! Playing without missing a beat. Thanks!

Hey, no problem! Always glad to help. Whenever get frustrated with computers, I remember how much of a pain in the @$$ it was to lap heads, adjust azimuth, buy test tapes, and lose a whole lotta disposable income buying reels of tape . I'll take having to play the role of IT professional, however questionably, any day!
