USB Microphone ASIO Driver?

I am at our vacation condo where I have  small DAW setup to record ideas.  Lacking a microphone,  I bought Samson C01U usb microphone at a pawn shop to record a notes track (I wanted a regular XLR mic but I could not find one). The mic works fine - I can record using Window's recording utility - Device Manager shows the the mic.

OS - Windows XP SP3 4GB RAM
Sonar 8.5
Audio Interface - M-Audio Firewire Solo

The Firewire Solo interface works fine for recording my guitars.  I use the ASIO driver. With the ASIO driver selected, the USB. Microphone doesn't apear. When I select the Windows audio driver the USB mic appears and I can record. However the Firwire Solo interface has a huge delay and the guitars are 1/2 second behind.

I can't seem to find an ASIO driver for the USB mic.  Anyone know how to use an ASIO driver with a USB mic in Sonar 8.5? I can't be the first person  trying to use an USB mic with ASIO.

Thanks!

The ASIO drivers are provided by the hardware manufacturer. You might have some luck with ASIO4ALL but this is just a wrapper and can also make the system less stable.

Have a look at the other Driver Modes in the Audio Playback and Recording settings in the Preferences.  One of the other driver modes might work for you.

There is no ASIO driver for this mic.  It uses the universal audio driver which is basically turning the mic into an audio interface.  Unfortunately, you cannot really use two audio interfaces at the same time.  It appears as though this mic has a headphone out which would allow you to monitor the guitars while recording on the mic.

ASIO drivers will only use one set of drivers at a time.  In fact, to use a 2nd ASIO driver you have to "unable, ie., uncheck" the Saffire drivers and select another one under driver options.

USB mikes are almost next to useless with a DAW. DAW's like to use ASIO drivers.  There are lots of threads on recording forums about this topic.
As said the best you can do is use asio4all and see if you can get the latency down with that. But really, your will be much better off getting your money back and find ANY real mike with even a 1/4" cable than fight with non asio drivers and Sonar.

Thanks all.  I suspected that I would not be able to use them together.

I have plenty of "real" mics at home and will bring one with me the next time we come.  I only paid $30 for the USB mic so I will keep it and use it for other tasks.  We are on the Alabama coast and Mobile is an hour away - thus the hunt in the pawnshops :) .  My wife went to the Outlet Mall and I had an hour to go looking for a mic.  Next stop is the beach!
