Looks like a handy little piece of gear. I just wonder if I would lose it, though, like I do the TV remote? The blurb makes it sound like SONAR support will be real. I will be keeping an eye on that after it comes out. I really hope it doesn't end up anything like the Countour Shuttle fiasco did.

I don't care if I have to program the thing myself, If I can get 4 or 5 of the functions I need working it will be worth $200. This thing is exactly what I've been waiting for.

I just got permission to talk about the Tranzport from Frontier I got a beta unit last week and it's everything it's advertised to be I also have a Mackie Control and FW-1884 since getting the Tranzport I find myself reaching for the Mackie Control less often and am already hook on the Tranzport. The Tranzport has all the major functions covered track volume, mute, solo, record, punch, and loop etc. although some functions require the use of the shift button or putting the Tranzport into a different mode like pressing the shift loop button to access the pan function. It also allows the user to setup key bindings using the Shift Prev, Add, and Next marker buttons. My initial feeling is very good and I'm looking forward to getting my production unit.

How about the implementation of the jog wheel? Can it have variable jog resolution? Specifically, due to a keybinding limitation in SONAR 3, the Shuttle would only jog at a resolution of one measure at a time. Contour addressed the problem with a Control Surface Plugin, but it was a half-baked solution (it hardcoded the buttons assignments and did not allow for programming them). If the keybinding in S4 is improved to allow for finer (or arbitrary) jogging, then that would be a nice workaround, too.

I don't own a DAW controller so I don't know much about them, but won't the FW-1884 or the Mackie do the same stuff the Tranzport will do and much more?

Yes that's correct my Mackie and fw-1884 have many more functions but the Tranzport gives me freedom while tracking I prefer to move around the room. And during mix down I can sit back in the chair and relax as opposed to being hunched over the board.

ORIGINAL: you can't get them yet ! I WANT ONE ! Frank, I think it is pretty clear you will be one of the first power users of this product. How did they miss making you a beta tester? When your little bundle of joy arrives, I hope you will exhibit your usual generosity to the forum and do an in-depth review. Meantime, it may not be too early to begin thinking about creative uses for all those soon-to-be discarded Shuttle Pros. BruceEnnis, how many Sonar functions can you custom-assign to the TranzPort via key bindings?

how many Sonar functions can you custom-assign to the TranzPort via key bindings? It will only allow three key bindings as shift functions to the Prev, Add, and Next buttons.

Thanks, Bruce. Sorry if I am asking you to repeat yourself, but for some reason I understand this answer but didn't quite glean the information from your previous posting.
