outboard gear coming through on ALL channels

hello all,
I'm using a Zoom multifx rack unit to add some fx to some of my tracks. the problem is that ALL the tracks signals are going out to the Zoom unit and being affected ( i can hear it in the monitors). Even when I delete the stereo bus with the External Insert plugin I can still here the fx. I'm using a Focusrite Saffire Pro 40 with the Zoom unit receiving signal from channels 9/10 and output back into channels 5/6.

any help is appreciated

How have you routed the output to 9/10 of you Pro 40, Buss, Send?
