MIDI Input Problem

Hello friends,
 
I have the NI Rig Kontrol pedal connected to my Windows 10 machine via USB.  When I operate the pedal, the midi icon lights up indicating that the pedal is sending data.  The pedal works fine with Guitar Rig 5 but is not working as a midi input device, even though I have it selected as an input device under midi settings.  Other midi devices are working fine.  Trying to figure out why the midi icon lights up, but I'm not getting any input to Sonar.  Any help would be appreciated.
