Anyone know how to make Pro Channel module stay at same order I left it in?

Whenever I edit a Track using a Pro Channel Module, and then leave that Track to go edit another Track, and then come back to the original Track with Pro Channel all of a sudden the Pro Channel modules are moved out of order and I have to go searching for that one Pro Channels module I was editing before I exited the Track.  I always thought the Pro Channel module would remain in the position you last left them in. It just sorta tedious to have to look for the EQ module every time I leave that track for a second and then come back to it.

Is there something that can cause the Modules or Pro Channel order to remain the way you left them when checking on another track?

Sounds like a feature request or a bug.

Do you mean when you drag a compressor down below the EQ or at a console emulator to the bottom of the stack? They do keep their order by default. I have never had the issue you are describing. They should just stay where you put them as that defines the chain order.

This is something I have never seen, I wonder if this a machine permissions issue.  Is your user in the Admin group of the PC?

You can define the order of PC modules by selecting and arranging them in the desired order for both Tracks and Buses.  Once set you can right click over the Track or Bus PC select Set default modules as default for track or Set Default order for Buses.

This will then set the order of the PC modules for new tracks or Buses, but it does not force a reset if you change the order or any of the modules once a project is in process.

The modules should certainly NOT change in order from top to bottom when you close and reopen a track's ProChannel drawer. If your system is doing that, and doing it consistently, I suggest you file a Help request.

That order also dictates what order they process the audio signal in, which is very important of course.

They should also stay in the same state, collapsed or uncollapsed, although this has no effect on how they process the audio signal.

I think I know what the op is talking about and its not an "module order" problem, its a viewing problem.
When you click to another track, then click back to the previous Pro channel, some modules are out of view and need to be scrolled up to find.

Normally its not too much of an issue but when you have 2-3 extra PC modules and your working on the top (1st in the chain) module it becomes a problem.

Good example- Watch every time I go back to the Bass track.

    Windows 8.1 X64 Sonar Platinum x64

    Exactly!

Thanks chuckebaby, That's exactly what i'm referring to! It's so annoying and frustrating when you're mixing many tracks using the Pro Channel modules. You edit the Pro Channel module on a specific track, go to another track and come back again and now you have to go searching for the Pro Channel module now you were last editing. It's like scrolling up and down all day while editing. It used to not be like that. On older builds the Pro Channel order stayed in the order last edited. Now it's like search and rescue whenever you leave that track, sometimes I may even forget which module I was editing if i spend a little time on another track because that module just disappears and have to be searched for again upon return to original track. I think it's something they did in one of the upgrades. Working on live mixdowns doing multiple Pro Channels track edits have become very tedious lately having to scroll up and down every time I go from track to track.

    So the bug is:

Pro Channel doesn't remember vertical scroll position per track.

Module order is a completely different thing than scroll position.  Best to not confuse the two.

While I'd be concerned they can't save/restore this to the project file (would perhaps require changing the project file format) I don't see why they couldn't at least remember the scroll position on a track basis during the session.

The Cakewalk program used to remember the scroll position, but they did something that no longer remembers the scroll position, probably when they made some changes and no one ever mentioned that it worked before being broken.

It changed sometime after X3 and before 2017-01. Not sure if the change was intended or not.

The way things have been going around here lately, if someone calls it to the devs' attention, it will likely be fixed in time for the next release
