[SOLVED] Can't find "Microsoft GS Wavetable Synth" on my Windows 10

For some reason, the "Microsoft GS Wavetable Synth" has disappeared from my Windows 10.
Now CbB does not show anything in MIDI Output Devices and there is nothing "Software Devices" in the Windows 10 Device Manager.
Would anyone know how can I reinstall Microsoft GS Wavetable Synth in Windows 10?

It should appear under "Software Devices" in Windows device Manager.

It is available in my Win 10, as well as an unchecked output option in CbB.

Sounds like you have a Windows issue.  Have you tried rebooting yet?

Just out of curiosity, what are you using the Microsoft GS for?  I have experienced severe latency any time I have ever tried it, so I never bother with it.

DAW: CbB; Sonar Platinum, and others ...

Solved by installing a third part midi driver as shown here: https://oldsite.andreafor...issing-midi-wavetable/

Instead of the just plain awful MS GS Wavetable Synth, take a look at CoolSoft's VirtualMIDISynth (free) at:

https://coolsoft.altervista.org/en/virtualmidisynth

That page also contains links to a bunch of soundfonts that you can use (I use the Arachno soundfont; small size, but decent sound).

I've been using it for years. The dev has been very active recently!

Thanks, but this is exactly the solution I had mentioned in my last post.
