One note sample sets

I have sample sets that are one note only but transposed for each of the keys in the virtual keyboard. No matter how good it sounds, samples like that only have one usable octave - unless I'm not understanding something.

What's the point of such a thing?

Thanks - rev

They can be useful on a sampler that does real-time stretching or formant control for the different notes.  This depends on the sampler.

    Windows 10 64bit fully patched, 16 gig ram .
    PCR-800 Controller.  (Working in Win 10 1809 64bit)
    CPU: i5 4670.
    Video: Nvidia GTX560ti (latest drivers).
Audio IF: Focusrite 2i2 2nd Gen

    Internet always on.

Sometimes such are used/made just to play one particular riff in a particular song.

SONAR PE 8.5.3, Asus P5B, 2,4 Ghz Dual Core, 4 Gb RAM, GF 7300, EMU 1820, Bluetube Pre  -  Kontakt4, Ozone, Addictive Drums, PSP Mixpack2, Melda Creative Pack, Melodyne Plugin etc.

OK, so pretty useless you want to play one particular riff in a particular song.
The patch in question was named after a particular song so that makes sense, but I don't want to play that particular song. I suppose you can do a lot with an octave...
Bing Crosby is supposed to have had a vocal range of only one octave.

I guess you could use Melodyne (or some other formant preserving pitch-shifter) to shift the sample up and down?
