Who know this option's function? "Preserve Mix Between Gain Members"

 
I am fighting to find out this option's function for 3hours.
I cannot feel any difference between ON and OFF...
Please help me, anybody~

Preserve Mix Between Gain Members
When this check box is enabled, any gain controls that are grouped will maintain the dB differential between them when they are moved. Otherwise, only the visual differential between them is maintained.

Who decided "Visual Differential" would be a good term to lay on musicians?
That manual can be so terse sometimes. Like they let a coder write it.

I think it means when "gain like" controls are grouped they will follow a dB scale when they move proportionately to each other rather than following a linear scale. 
When moving faders together you want to use a dB scale to preserve loudness. On the other hand if you prefer them to be visually proportionate it will follow a linear scale.
 
I don't think this is a clearer explanation either though :) Arguably that control could be renamed to "Follow dB scale for gain"
