Learn all the major and minor scales, starting with C. That will open several doors for you. There are hundreds of tutorials on YouTube, watch a few. Then move onto chords and harmony.

Over analyzing the action will not accomplish it. And trust me. You are over analyzing. I read posts not books. If it works for you then great, but I only have so much life left in me and I'm not going to spend a bunch of it of it reading about what someone is thinking about doing.
