Split stereo to 2 mono tracks in new Cakewalk?
I need to split a stereo track to separate mono tracks but I'm not finding a "bounce to tracks" option that supposedly used to be in past version(s) of Sonar. If I select my stereo track, the only option I can find is "bounce to clip(s)" which doesn't give me the option to split left & right. Does this feature exist?

Ahhh, I totally missed the "Tracks" menu option at the top of the Track window. Thanks!

scook Bounce to Track(s) is in the same Track View Track menu location since the Skylight interface was introduced with X1. Bounce to Clip(s) is in the Track View Clips menu.
Unfortunately this didn't work. I tried to bounce to tracks with the split mono option but I only get one track. Shouldn't there be 2? Anderton Here's an option that requires no bouncing.
Could you expand on this process a bit? If I use 2 take lanes for said track, how do I get each to provide the left and right from the original stereo track?

You can pan individual lanes left and right.

"I tried to bounce to tracks with the split mono option but I only get one track. Shouldn't there be 2?" You probably had the source track interleave set to mono. That will create a single track. If it is set to stereo "split mono" creates 2 tracks.

Anderton You can pan individual lanes left and right.
I managed to get this working (I think) by copying the track into a 2nd lane, setting each lane's filter to Clip Pan, and panning them left and right. Follow-up question: do channel FX simply apply to both lanes without any way to separate them? Base 57 "I tried to bounce to tracks with the split mono option but I only get one track. You're right, I did have the track interleave set to mono, but when I changed it to stereo and tried bouncing to split mono tracks, I still only ended up with one track. At first I thought this was because I had mono FX on the channel, but ruled that out after I deleted them from the FX bin and tried it again. **EDIT** I reopened the project without saving, deleted all the mono FX first, then set interleave to stereo, bounced, and got 2 tracks!! Thanks for the help :)

Sometimes I suspect that interleave changes are not 100% adapted. I had this when I exported individual tracks and wanted them to be mono. If you export a track with stereo interleave setting as mono, then the volume in the output increases by +3dB. If the same track has a mono interleave setting, then the volume in the exported file is exactly the same as shown in the track view. So when I accidentally had a stereo interleave for mono tracks, changed them to mono (to avoid the +3dB) and exported them the output was +3dB. But when I saved and reopened the project the exports of the mono tracks worked as expected!? Marc
