new install, CW Content folder
So, first new install since, well, I cannot remember because I have upgraded for decades. So Splat, I have all my exe's but I have always had the CW content folder on a separate drive. Wondering now how most others do this. I definitely keep samples on a different drive, mdo not remember why I did this with the CW content folder?.....

I've always kept all the 'Content' folders in a subfolder of My Documents where they'll be sure to get backed up and migrated to new computers so I don't lose content I've created/collected over the years like project and track templates, CAL files, instrument definitions, etc.

OK....So that tell me you didn't worry about "size" of the folder on your C drive. That was actually my question, but as I often do,I confuse the question. Not on purpose. Thanks very much for responding.........

I keep it on another external drive. But you have to remember to change paths in the setup box.

If you have a separate SSD for library files, the drive will tend to get read more than written to and therefore potentially have a longer life.

I use a secondary internal drive, due to the size of that content folder. The paths are available to customize in preferences. I regularly back up the secondary drive, so there is no reason for me to put all of that on my primary drive. I also do the same with all of my sample folders for virtual instruments, using the secondary drive. WinDirStat is a handy free utility to show your relative folder sizes, and help you decide what you may wish to move. https://windirstat.net/

Thanks very much to all.........Now wish I could remember how to redirect a folder to another drive. I need that for certain things.

Cakewalk or Sonar preferences can be used to assign drive paths for Cakewalk content. If a 3rd party installer will let you assign paths, use that. Otherwise, use directory junctions (symlinks) to redirect already installed folders to a new location. https://docs.microsoft.co...rd-links-and-junctions
