(Do The) Splatford Split

I have been burring myself in trying to write a deep, dark and complex song cycle and need some light relief so I threw together this throwaway little electro pop ditty for giggles. We don't have Autobhans in Devon, we do the Splatford Split.

if you are thinking about that stuff while you are driving, that's just not safe.  :)

I enjoyed it, and also kind of wondered what the hell was going on! Holds the interest. Mix-wise, was it hitting the limiter pretty hard? A bit of crackle showed up, for example around 1:15 - 1:25, but maybe just the buzz on those synth drum hits?

I'm still trying to figure it out. Fun piece!

I can tell you're an old hand at this.  Your instrumentation is more creative and at the same time sparse.  The young ones put way too much in the stew.

Ah, yes, Kraftwerk. I knew it sounded like someone but couldn't remember who. I don't listen to electronica much, but i at least know who they are.

    Nice work.

Yes, the mix was a bit hasty in retrospect, I may redo it at some point and also try to better the "vocals"

If anyone is interested here are a few technical details.

The track gave me chance to play with some toys that don't come out of the box much. Vocals were processed through NI's The Mouth and the drums are Toontrack's No.1 Hits.

The rest is stuf I more commonly use. Bass is Minimonsta, Lead is Synthmaster, layered with XILS4 in places. Then there is Waves Electric Grand and a few instances of Analog Lab 3

I thought I hear a voice or three from analogue lab Glyn good to hear something from you.

Simple tune but with a nicely "moving" arrangement - well done.
