Click on the icon thingy next to the track number in the track strip.

Click on the plugin's name in the FX bin above the Sends section.

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.

Method 5 from the help depends on how the synth was added to the project.

I originally said "TRACK VIEW". I meant "CONSOLE VIEW". Sorry, my bad!

The FX Rack is directly above the sends in the console view. As I mentioned above the method works but requires adding synths in a way that has not been the preferred method for years.

AFAIK, all the methods to open synth UIs are detailed in the help link provided above.

So, unless I use the old school method of Audio Trk w/Softsynth + MIDI Trk, I'm SOL? Bummer! Thanks anyhow!

If you have two monitors, keep the track view open on one of them.  I presume the assumption for the UI was that if you had the console view open in full screen mode, that you would also have another monitor to work with.

With one monitor, it costs the width of one track strip to keep a MIDI strip open in the track inspector. The thread developed in an curious way, track view to console view to console view w/ instrument track.

Thanks to all who responded. It's NBD, just a workflow preference. I've only the one monitor, so I've been working around it with different screensets. Not that much trouble to switch, just thought it odd that we've been using this method of inserting softsynths for so long, and this feature was never added. Thought for sure I must've been missing something.
